Filipino American Association of Southern Ohio

Serving our Filipino American community

Our Condolences

Dear FASO Family,

It is with a heavy heart that I report the following news. On April 16, 2020, Reverend Monsignor Emmanuel Manahan, P.C. returned to the heavenly Father. Ordained as a priest in December 1987, he served as personal secretary for almost ten years to His Excellency Most Reverend Cirilo R. Almario Jr., 2nd Bishop of Malolos, Bulacan, Philippines.

He was a valuable part of the southern Ohio and northern Kentucky Filipino-American community. Monsignor Manahan celebrated many masses with FASO. He led us in prayer at many of our most important gatherings including the Feast of the Virgin of Penafrancia and our annual Simbang Gabi mass in Christmas preparation.

His booming voice echoes in my memory. Even today, I can hear him urge us all to not forget that “Jesus is the reason for the season.” I remember his devotion to Mother Mary and how he would accompany the fluvial procession on Winton Woods Lake. And it makes me smile despite the sadness I feel at his passing.

Monsignor Manahan was truly the Lord’s instrument that will be sorely missed. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
